The mission of the Ojibwe Horse Society is to preserve, protect, and raise awareness of the Ojibwe Horses, Canada’s only Indigenous-developed horse breed. The Society has spearheaded conservation and awareness efforts since 2002 and was formerly known as the Lac La Croix Indigenous Pony Society (LLCIPS).

We are honoured to follow the guidance of our consulting Elder Myeengun Henry. Currently on faculty with the University of Waterloo, Elder Henry was previously Manager of Indigenous Services and a Professor of Indigenous Studies at Conestoga College. He is the former Elected Chief and band councillor for Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. In addition to these leadership roles, he currently serves as Chair for the Ontario Provincial Police and Law society of Ontario Indigenous Advisory councils. Elder Henry also serves as an Indigenous ceremony conductor throughout Canada and the United States of America, traditional medicine practitioner, environmental protectionist, Indigenous counsellor, and Pow Wow coordinator.
